Women of Nassau donates to Nassau non-profits

Women of Nassau (WON) recently completed one of its 2026 philanthropy efforts by raising $4,000 at a well-attended Mad Hatter Tea Party with donations to two deserving nonprofits in Nassau County. WON is a not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to enriching Nassau County by fostering relationships and generosity through its membership. It is open to all women in Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Nassauville, Callahan, and Hilliard.

More than 100 members and guests enjoyed tea, scones and various delicacies at the event, held at the Wildlight Amenity Center ballroom in Yulee. The event also featured a beautifully appointed table of china, crystal and flower arrangements provided by WON members. Fourteen gift baskets donated by members and local vendors were raffled, with winners accepting prizes worth $150 and more.

One of this year’s recipients is Gracie’s Kitchen, a non-profit located in Yulee that provides free meals and a food pantry to the hungry, including families, seniors and the working poor.

The second recipient was the Nassau County School McKinney-Vento Program. With over 407 students from 232 families, it provides educational support to students who currently live in motels, shelters, cars, parks, substandard housing or are doubled up with family and friends.

Lorraine Clapper, President of Women of Nassau, extended a heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to its Philanthropy Committee headed by Vice President Amy Briggs, along with more than 20 member volunteers. “We are pleased to donate to this year’s worthy organizations and look forward to helping other smaller and less-known non-profit organizations where WON’s contributions can make a significant impact,” Clapper said.
