On Friday, Oct. 9, residents, families and staff will gather for Osprey Village's annual community walk benefiting the Alzheimer's Association. The event was started by Diane Duffy, a top fundraiser for the Jacksonville Walk to End Alzheimer's, who serves as the Life Enrichment Leader at Osprey Village and has lost a loved one to the disease.
The walk has become a meaningful gathering at the retirement community. Many residents cannot participate in larger Walk to End Alzheimer's events, making this community-based walk an important way to support the cause.
Approximately 50 residents, family members and supporters are expected to participate in this year's event, which includes a one mile walk around the community, with proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer's Association's care, support and research efforts. The event is also open to the general public.
