Two simple words are sparking enormous discussion and controversy in communities across the nation. What, where, how and why are questions that many residents and policy-makers are struggling to answer, including here in Nassau County.
This month, Story & Song Center for Arts and Culture continues its “Let’s Listen” community discussion, focusing on the topic of data centers, with a public/private partnership question: “Whose job is it?” That translates to who will foot the bill — now and in the future: the data center companies? The taxpayers? Who benefits? Are there environmental and health consequences? What is the long-term viability of data center buildings and equipment? How does the public sort through the vast amount of rhetoric?
The questions are seemingly endless; however, public discussion is critical. Join the conversation Sunday, June 28, 3-5 p.m. as a follow-up to last month’s session about A.I. that attracted a full house. “Let’s Listen” is a community discussion facilitated by Maureen Kingsley Paschke, who brings a background in journalism, commercial and public media, and experience leading topical discussions at Story & Song and other venues.
Attendance at “Let’s Listen: Healing the Great Divides” is complimentary; however, please register at Story & Song Arts.
