Story & Song Presents Its Monthly “Let’s Listen” Program Sunday

Posted

Consumption of news media has become increasingly complex and confusing for many.

Gone are the days of three TV networks, a daily newspaper, and Walter Cronkite as the single most trusted man in America of 60 years ago; enter
multiple cable news stations, online, TV, and radio news influencers, international online media outlets, social media commentary, and just about any
way you want to find opinion presented as fact. What to believe?

Some people gravitate only to sources that present information they agree with. Others try their best to navigate a variety of ideas. Still others just give up and stop paying attention. In any case, it often leads to division among Americans.

On Sunday, April 12, 3-5 p.m., Story & Song Center for Arts &  Culture will address today’s media choices as part of its monthly 10 part community conversation “Let’s Listen: Healing the Great Divides.” Experts in media will be on hand to share how to discern what’s factual, what unbiased media policy looks like, and how to research accuracy in what is being presented by today’s media.

“Let’s Listen” is a community discussion facilitated by Maureen Kingsley Paschke, who brings a background in journalism, and commercial and public
media as well as experience leading topical discussions at Story & Song and other venues.

“Let’s Listen” is complimentary, however, please register at storyandsongarts.org, programs.
