FERNANDINA BEACH - Staci McMonagle, a 29-year resident of Fernandina Beach and a life-long Floridian, has announced her candidacy for City Commission Seat 4, announced City Clerk Caroline Best.

McMonagle will face former Vice Mayor Len Kreger and Scott Inglis in the first round of voting on Aug. 18. A winner is decided if one of the three candidates receives more than 50 percent of the vote. If not, the two candidates with the most votes advance to the November election.

This is McMonagle's second run for a city commission seat. In 2022, she ran against current Vice Mayor Darron Ayscue and Genence Minshew for Seat 5.

"Quickly stated the reason I am running for city commission is that I want to see the will of the people, the taxpayers needs, made the priority when decisions are being made by the commission," she stated in an email.  "This can be can accomplished by: doing away with paid parking, completing the seawall and seeing that the taxpayers dollars are spent wisely within the budget and in a way that secures the future of Fernandina and its residents for the years to come.  I want to restore integrity and trust in our city government by ensuring elected officials are accountable to the people first."

McMonagle may be reached by cell: 904-477-4086 and email: s.d.mcmonagle@gmail.com.

Ayscue is seeking re-election for Seat 5 and is currently unopposed. Minshew was elected in 2024 for Seat 2.

Qualifying to run for city commission ends at 5 p.m. on Friday.
