A new stage theatre troupe has arrived in town, adding to a rich landscape of local entertainment that includes ACT, AMP, talented bands, and visiting theatrical professionals. Whodunit Players Theatre debuts with “Mystery at Upton House,” benefiting Micah’s Place Domestic Violence Center. Founded in 2003, Micah’s Place operates a 24-hour hotline and an emergency shelter as well as a variety of services that address domestic violence.
The show taps into the long-standing public fascination with mystery stories — especially those that invite audience participation. As the audience arrives, they are welcomed to enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and beverages. There will be a cash bar. The audience is the invited guests of Lady Crawley, who is hosting a fundraiser for the families of fallen World War II soldiers. The year is 1940. During the meal, an untimely death occurs. Over dessert, guests question the suspects, then comes the reveal, and the audience learns how good they are at being detectives.
