FERNANDINA BEACH - The local Pride group celebrated its 6th annual parade and festival Saturday, marching downtown to an all-day event at Central Park.

City Commissioner Joyce Tuten read a proclamation recognizing the Pride event at Central Park that was attended by fellow City Commissioners Genece Minshew and Tim Poynter.

"One of the strengths of Fernandina Beach is that people from many different backgrounds choose to call this community home. Events that bring people together, encourage understanding, and foster a sense of belonging contribute to the social fabric that makes our city special.

I want to thank all the organizers and volunteers who made today’s Fernandina Beach Pride Parade and Festival a great success," Minshew posted on Facebook.

The festival featured guest speaker Mason Manion of Equality FL.
