Amelia Island Opera announces its 6th season – From Page to Stage

From Page to Stage is the theme for Amelia Island Opera’s 6th Season. It will celebrate the written word transformed through the power of music and live performance. This season highlights the many ways stories, ideas, and inspiration travel from books, sacred texts, broadcasts, and librettos to the concert hall and the stage. Among this season's offerings: Amelia Island Opera’s Gala, Gian Carlo Menotti's "The Old Maid and the Thief" traces its origins to one of the first operas written specifically for radio, proving that compelling storytelling can flourish in any medium.

The annual Messiah Sing-Along celebrates Handel's beloved masterpiece, inspired by passages from the Bible that have resonated for centuries. Massenet's Werther brings Goethe's timeless novel vividly to life, transforming one of literature's greatest romances into an emotionally rich musical drama. These performances are joined by additional concerts and special events that continue the season's exploration of how the written word inspires unforgettable live experiences. Whether born from a novel, scripture, a radio script, or another written source, every work in the season reminds us that stories truly come alive when they are shared through music.
